....A
love for the Word of God can begin at an early age. This love
is crucial for your child's life. The Word of God can provide
direction and offer direction to your child. It can reveal
God and His will to your child. As your child grows in his
or her love for the Word of God, he or she will turn to it
and seek its truths. This is sowing a spiritual habit that
will bless and direct him or her all the days of his or her
life.
....The
following prayers can help you pray for your child to have
a love for God's Word. You can use these or develop your own
from them. In order to use the prayers, place your child's
name in the blank and plead the truth of the Scripture in
his or her behalf.
Father, I plead that _________________ will know that the
Bible is the Word of God. Cause him/her to know that You inspired
the Bible and that it is Your Word to him/her. Grant him/her
certainty and conviction in this matter. Show _______________
that it is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and
training in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16).
Father, I pray that ________________ would not live by bread
alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.
Grant __________________ a consuming passion for Your Word
(Deuteronomy 8:3; Matthew 4:4).
I ask that You Word would be a lamp to ____________________'s
feet and a light to ________________'s path (Psalm 119:105).
Father, I pray that __________________ would not merely hear
the Word of God. I plead that he/she will hear and obey the
Word of God. Deliver him/her from being a careless hearer
of the Word of God (James 1:22).
Father, I plead that __________________'s heart would be
good soil, receiving Your Word and bearing fruit for You.
Let him/her retain Your Word and produce a crop of godly character,
holiness of life, and effectiveness in the kingdom of God.
I ask that You would keep Satan from snatching it from ________________'s
heart. Don't allow the worries, pleasures, and riches of life
choke out Your Word in his/her life and make it unfruitful
in his/her life. Let the roots of Your Word grow deep into
his/her heart and mind so that he/she can preserve and endure
the testing of his/her faith (Luke 8:11-13).
Father, I ask that ___________________ would separate himself/herself
from the ungodly. Yet, I pray that _________________ would
saturate his/her life with the Word of God. Cause him/her
to take delight in Your Word, meditating on it day and night.
Let him/her be deeply rooted in Your Word so that he/she can
prosper in his/her life (Psalm 1:1-3).
Father, teach ______________ to know Your commands and obey
You, demonstrating his/her love for You (John 14:21).
Father, I plead that ___________________ would hide Your
Word in his/her heart so that he/she will not sin against
You. Grant him/her a love for memorizing the Word of God (Psalm
119:11).
Father, I ask You to open ___________________'s eyes to see
the wonderful truths in God's Word. Help him/her understand
Your Word (Psalm 119:18).
Father, I pray that ________________ would love Your Word
with all his/her heart. Cause him/her to think about it all
day long (Psalm 119:97).
